PD: Boy threatened 2 Gilbert schools on Facebook

CBS 5 CBS 5
GILBERT, AZ (CBS5) -

A 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after he posted a Facebook threat to "shoot up" two Gilbert schools, police said.

Students at Mesquite High School alerted the school resource officer about the threatening Facebook post aimed at their school and Mesquite Jr. High.

No classes were interrupted but it sparked additional officer presence at the schools.

An investigation led Gilbert police detectives to serve a search warrant on a home near McQueen and Warner in Chandler.

A boy living there admitted he posted the threat, police said.

The teen faces charges of interfering with an educational institution by threats.
