OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - A swimming alert that was issued for a part of Brunswick County's beaches Wednesday has been lifted, according to a news release from the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Previously, it had affected water at the public beach access at the end of Driftwood Drive in Ocean Isle Beach.
As of Thursday, sampling of the water at that site now shows that bacteria levels have dropped below the Environmental Protection Agency's standards for swimming and water play.
