LELAND, NC (WECT) – A felon already serving a 15-year sentence for firearm charges in 2010 was found guilty Wednesday on charges of rape and kidnapping.

According to the District Attorney's Office, Christopher Harold Goins was found guilty of kidnapping, rape, assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of sex offense.

Authorities said he raped a female relative at an apartment complex in Wilmington in July 2010.

He was found not guilty to a charge of assault by pointing a gun.

Goins pleaded guilty in January 2010 to unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

According to the Department of Justice, Goins was released from the NC Department of Corrections in July 2010.  Five days after his release, he was arrested for rape.

Goins' criminal felonious record includes two counts of assault with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and one count each of armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of cocaine, and breaking and entering.
