COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Nearly 150 new jobs will be coming to Columbus County over the next three years.
Governor Pat McCrory and NC Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced Wednesday Ply Gem Industries will expand its operations in Fair Bluff, bringing with it 145 jobs and a $15.5 million investment.
"These new manufacturing jobs are a welcome and necessary step to improving the economy in Columbus County," said McCrory in a news release. "It's always encouraging when a great corporate citizen like Ply Gem chooses to expand right here in North Carolina."
Ply Gem Industries is a manufacturer of building products and is headquartered in Cary. The company is the leading manufacturer of exterior building products in North America.
Salaries for the open positions will vary by job function, but the average annual salaries is expected to be $45,730, plus benefits, according to a news release from the governor's office.
"On behalf of all of the citizens of Columbus County and the NC Southeast I am happy to welcome the expansion of the Ply Gem Plant that is located in Fair Bluff," said Rep. Ken Waddell. "This much needed expansion will be vital to the continuing effort to provide jobs and economic growth to our area."
