WALLACE, North Carolina – Old Dominion combined for a team total 301 on Sunday to rally from a three-stroke deficit and capture the 2013 UNCW Seahawk Classic at the River Landing Golf Course.
Tied for second after 36 holes, the Lady Monarchs captured their second tournament title of the season as they finished the 54-hole event with a 311-305-301=917 scorecard, two strokes ahead of second-place Georgia State (304-314-301=919). UNCG (312-304-305=921) claimed third while second-round leader and host UNCW (305-308-309=922) took fourth.
Fanny Cnops of UNCG posted an even-par 72 on Sunday to claim individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 74-72-72=218. Old Dominion's Elizabeth Haycock carded the low round of the tournament with a two-under-par 70 on Sunday to move into second (77-73-70=220) while UNCW junior Lori Beth Adams posted her fourth top-five finish of the season as she took third with a 73-74-75=222 total.
Sophomore Mallory Warrick turned in the first top-10 performance of her career, claiming a share of ninth place with a 76-76-75=227 finish. Fellow sophomore Mattie Tobey (75-80-76=231) finished four strokes back of Warrick in a tie for 18th while junior Megan Burnham (81-78-83=242/T-48th) and junior Jeanne Metivier (85-91-92=268/69th) completed UNCW's entry. Seniors Danielle Lamy (86-81-80=247/T-54th) and Brittany Gamby (92-91-84=267/68th) competed as individual entries.
UNCW returns to action April 19-21 when it looks to defend its title at the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championships. The 54-hole tournament will be held on the Reserve Course of the St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C.
