(WECT) – Many people use Google to sniff out great deals and any other information online, and now the search engine has launched Google Nose so users can search by smell…or can they?
In true Google fashion, the company made the announcement April 1. The product is part of its latest April Fool's Day prank.
A video introducing the new Google feature, explains that
users can easily search for smells. They claim the "mobile aroma indexing program
has gathered a 15 million scentibyte database of smells from around the world."
Sound farfetched? That's because it is.
The video explains that Google Nose Beta makes it easier to stop and smell the roses – the roses are just a click away.
While the idea of using your sense of smell to search may sound enticing, it will have to wait. This technology only exists in a fictional universe.
