WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – People in the Wilmington area took time Friday to learn more about what it means to be a United States citizen.

About a dozen people attended a seminar on the topic Friday at Cape Fear Community College.

Topics included how to obtain citizenship status, US laws and regulations, and other immigration services guidelines.

The seminar was hosted by a representative from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services department out of the office for Homeland Security in Durham.

Organizers say this was a perfect opportunity for folks to learn what it takes to gain citizenship status before they spend money on an application.
