
(Source: MGN Online)COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A husband and wife in Columbus County facing charges from the ALE now have different fates.
Lisa and Ronnie Caffee, both of Whiteville, were charged in October 2012 in connection with an accident that killed a man last year.
Agents say Ryan Hommel, 21 of Chadbourn, was killed May 3, 2012 while riding in a car being driven by 19-year-old Nicholas Wilkinson, of Clarkton. The young men had been at a party the Caffee home that night.
According to prosecutors, charges of aiding and abetting a person less than 21 years of age in the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages have been dropped against Ronnie.
Lisa, however, was found guilty of giving alcoholic beverages to a person less than 21 years of age and aiding and abetting a person less than 21 years of age in the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Lisa appealed and prosecutors said she will likely have a trial.
Wilkinson faces a charge of felony death by motor vehicle. He was also charged with DWI, reckless driving and speeding 98 mph in a 55 mph zone.
