WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a freeze warning for much of Southeastern North Carolina.
With the possibility of frost, gardening experts remind you that before you head to bed, you should either bring your potted plants indoors or cover budding plants with a bed sheet.
Ryan Olsen, from Progressive Gardens on Oleander, said the late freezes are annoying but not uncommon.
"It's a little wacky," said Olsen. "Last year, we had it too. We had a really late frost. So, it's been a little tricky, especially when it has been unusually warm through the winter time and we start to get frosts when everyone starts gardening again."
He said azaleas and daffodils may be damaged by tonight's freezing temperatures.
Something to keep in mind the next time we have a late freeze, water your plants that day. Olsen said the water will insulate the roots and protect them from damage.
