
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The first Wilmington Police Department Service Awards are taking place on Wednesday.
According to a press release, 60 employees will receive awards for their years of service.
Police Officer Brad Baker will be honored for 30 years of service. Other awards are 'Officer of the Year', 'Civilian of the Year', & 'Citizen of the Year'.
According to a Press Release, there will be 4 special awards:
1) A team of detectives for the investigation into the murder of Josh Proutey.
2) Team of officers who planned and executed the capture of a suspect who committed a string of nine armed robberies.
3) Two officers and a New Hanover County Deputy who located and secured treatment for a despondent woman who had attempted suicide.
4) Two officers who saved a man who was threatening to jump from a bridge.
