Families living in the Currie community showed their disdain for a training facility in their part of the county by circling petitions to their neighbors.
County commissioner Jimmy Tate said Tuesday that the board unanimously agreed the proposed plan would be a public nuisance.
"Hearing the concerns expressed by the community, I was worried about it," he said.
The group Alastar, TDSC needed a special use permit to develop the project off Highway 210 in Currie.
