
Damage done to the home on South 9th Street.WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Three people were able to escape a burning home safely early Tuesday morning.
According to the Wilmington Fire Department, firefighters were called to take out flames at a home on South Ninth Street just before 12:30 a.m.
Fire crews said the home was fully engulfed when they arrived on the scene, but they were able to control the fire within 15 minutes. Firefighters worked into the night putting out hotspots,.
Investigators determined the fire was accidental and caused from unattended cooking.
The WFD said damage estimates for the building and contents are about $80,000.
