CAROLINA BEACH (WECT) - The ninth annual Steve Haydu St. Patrick's Day Lo Tide Run returned to Carolina Bach Saturday.
The event was started in honor of the late Steve Haydu by his widow, Cori McQueen. The goal of the event is to raise money for families struggling with the financial burdens brought with cancer.
In the past nine years, the race has grown to be the largest in southeastern North Carolina. Over a quarter of a million dollars has been raised since the event's inception.
