WEATHER: A mild St. Patrick's Day weekend

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A pretty mild and breezy start to your Saturday morning. Temperatures will climb into the low to mid 70s this afternoon. A little more cloud cover is expected this morning as opposed to this afternoon. Skies should start to clear by early afternoon, so expect mostly sunny skies.

Southwesterly winds will hold steady much of the day. Sustained winds will range from 10-20 mph; however, we could see gusts up to 30 mph due to a pretty strong pressure gradient with low pressure to our north and high pressure just off the coast of Florida.

More clouds are expected in the forecast tonight as a back-door cold front inches closer to the area. Lows will fall into the low 50s and winds will start to diminish as well.

You can look forward to another mild day on Sunday as temperatures are expected to climb near 70 in most locations with partly cloudy skies.

Clouds will increase Monday as our next system moves closer to the area. A slight chance of rain is in the forecast Monday; however, our best chance of rain will arrive Tuesday.
