SURF CITY, NC (WECT) – Did you know Cape Fear Community College will soon have a campus in Surf City?

CFCC and Surf City officials are teaming up this weekend to spread the word about the new campus.

The public is invited to an informational session Saturday, March 16 about CFCC's upcoming Alston W. Burke Campus in Surf City. The event will be held at the Surf City Welcome Center from 9:30-11 a.m.

The building design will be on display, and CFCC president Dr. Ted D. Spring will give a presentation and answer questions about the new campus. Surf City Town Council and Mayor Zander Guy will also be available for questions.

"Cape Fear Community College is growing rapidly and it's exciting to take this new step. We look forward to hearing directly from the residents about their hopes for the Alston W. Burke Campus and the programs to be offered there. We're here for the community, and want to make sure we're responsive to the needs of the Surf City area," said Spring in a press release.

According to a press release from CFCC, architects are working on the designs for the campus, which will be located on a 24-acre site off Hwy 10. Builders anticipate to break ground in the late fall of 2013.
