Another chilly start to the day today but this afternoon the warming trend becomes noticeable across the Wilmington area. High temperatures will move into the low 60s today versus the low 50s we had just yesterday. And this trend, where each day warms up about 10 degrees, continues into Saturday as well as we reach a high temperature in the low 70s.
This will set up the weekend outdoor events like the Lo Tide Run on Saturday at Carolina Beach and the Wrightsville Beach Marathon on St. Patrick's Sunday nicely. Rain will be moving toward the region as a back door cold front approaches through late Sunday into Monday and Tuesday. This means we may see some extra cloud cover on Sunday - but those temperatures will still push into the low 70s.under the added clouds.
Monday our rain chance increases a bit as that back door front skirts the area before a more potent moves through by early Tuesday.
