
A school bus was involved in an accident around 7:00 Thursday morning.
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Three vehicles, including a school bus and a vehicle transporting a body for Wilmington Mortuary were involved in a crash on Market Street near Creekwood Road Thursday morning just before 7 a.m.
No one was injured in that crash. According to a trooper on the scene, the bus was stopped on the side of the road picking up a student. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver of the mortuary vehicle failed to stop and crashed into another vehicle which ended up hitting the school bus. Officials said only one student was on the bus at the time.
There was minor damage to the bus which was heading to Blair Elementary School. There was minor damage to the rear wheel well of the New Hanover County School Bus.
Officials with Highway Patrol are investigating the accident. A trooper on the scene said the driver of the mortuary vehicle will be cited for failing to yield.
