Tommy Barham says the hawk went after his pet dog, Max.NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Neighbors in the Gordon Woods community are warning about an aggressive hawk.
The hawk has reportedly attempted to snatch small animals from yards in the neighborhood.
Tommy Barham said the hawk has gobbled up the neighborhood's squirrels and now it has set its sights on small pets.
He says the hawk tried to go after his toy poodle, Max, who was in his backyard. His wife chased it away before it was too late.
Now, he's urging neighbors to be on alert.
Barham is trying to spread the word about the hawk. He is asking his neighbors to keep a close eye on their small pets.
"I'm concerned that people do not know about this and they will let their dog go out and if the hawk happens to be around, he could take them," he said.
