WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – North Carolina State University Chancellor Randy Woodson was in Wilmington Tuesday to speak to the Rotary Club about the importance of higher education.
Woodson said it helps to boost the economy because graduates go onto enter the workforce. He went on to say the research that takes place also gives the economy a push.
The NC State Chancellor said supporting education is critical in order for Wilmington and North Carolina to continue growing.
"For North Carolina to continue to prosper as a state, we need to continue to have an educated workforce," explained Woodson. "It's a combination of community colleges and higher education. Secondly, the research we do in our colleges drives the economy of the state forward."
Several education leaders and the district attorney attended the lecture.
