UNCW Press Release
WILMINGTON, North Carolina – One week after sharing Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher-of-the-Week honors, UNCW sophomore righthander Jordan Ramsey was tabbed again, this time outright, as the league's top pitcher for the week.
Ramsey tossed his first nine-inning complete game against VCU on March 9, as the Seahawks clinched a series win against their longtime rivals from Richmond. The righthander scattered nine hits, walked two and tied his career-high for the second time this spring with seven strikeouts. VCU went just 2-for-13 against Ramsey with runners on base. Over his last 23 and 2/3 innings, he's allowed just one earned run for an earned run average of 0.38. On the season, Ramsey ranks fourth in the league with a 1.91 ERA.
For Ramsey, it's his fifth CAA award after being a three-time CAA Rookie-of-the-Week as a freshman in 2012.
The Seahawks open their first of consecutive five-game weeks on Tuesday with a 5 p.m. start against Elon at Brooks Field. UNCW will host Coastal Carolina on Wednesday in a 4 p.m. start before heading to Harrisonburg, Va., to open CAA action with James Madison. The series begins on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
