TABOR CITY, NC (WECT) - Tabor City Police Officer Greg Sibbett was found not guilty Thursday on two counts of assault by pointing a gun and one count of unlawful restraint.
Jurors were split nine to three when deciding if Sibbett was not guilty for a second count of unlawful restraint charge.
Prosecutors say they have not decided if there will be a new trial for that charge.
Sibbett was accused of holding two teenagers, who were acting recklessly, at gunpoint outside the town's jurisdiction. He was indicted in 2009 for the charges.
Sibbett has remained with the Tabor City Police Department, doing administrative work, since the charges were filed in 2009.
