WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The City of Wilmington will cut the ribbon marking the end of more than two years of traffic tie-ups on North Third Street Friday afternoon. The road officially reopened following a ribbon cutting ceremony on the front steps of City Hall according to city officials.
The North Third Street Improvement Project involved the replacement of aging water and sewer lines, the placement of power and other utilities underground, road re-surfacing, new sidewalks, traffic signals and streetlights.
Officials say $10.4 million was invested into the project, which began in August of 2011.
