DUPLIN CO., NC (WECT) - A man is in jail after Highway Patrol troopers say he lead them on a chase that reached up to 140mph.
They spotted James Tart on Highway 24 near Kenansville Thursday afternoon. They say he was speeding on a motorcycle.
They tried to pull him over, but he wouldn't stop. That started a high-speed chase.
Tart eventually got onto Interstate 40 West and ran out of gas near mile marker 359 near the Duplin Co. / Sampson Co. line.
Troopers say he then ran off, but authorities were able to catch him.
Tart is being held in the Duplin County Jail, and he's charged with felony speeding to elude arrest. He also has other outstanding warrants.
