BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A North Carolina football standout and former NFL player is using his life experiences to give back and educate the youth in our community.

Levar Fisher, former NFL star for the Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints, began his football career as a linebacker at East Carteret High School in Beaufort, NC.

Fisher then moved on to be a four-year starter for the NC State Wolfpack.

After a knee injury forced him to retire from the NFL in 2007, Fisher dropped the football and picked up the pen.

Fisher has authored two books, entitled Hold On To Your Dreams and his latest book, Freeze and Think About It.

Fisher says the only tackles he makes now is in the community. He wants to encourage young folks to make good decisions and think about their future. Fisher is now bringing his campaign to Brunswick County.
