CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – Another familiar face in New Hanover County government is popping up at Carolina Beach Town Hall.
Andre Mallette, former Assistant County Manager, has been hired as a consultant, according to Mayor Bob Lewis. The mayor said Mallette is filling a void left when Human Resources Director Sheila Mallard resigned at the end of February.
Mallette will be working under contract at a rate of $35 per hour. Lewis said the position allows Mallette to help the town and keep the HR position open for a full time candidate.
Interim Town Manager Bruce Shell is already familiar with Mallette from Shell's time as New Hanover County Manager. Mallette retired from county government May 1, 2012 followed by Shell on June 30 that same year.
Lewis said there are 26 applications for the town manager position and whoever is chosen will be the one to hire a new HR Director.
