BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Rachel Natacha Owens was last seen getting off her school bus about two years ago when she was 15-year-old.
Her family is meeting with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office and FBI Monday to issue a public plea for information about Rachel's whereabouts.
According to the sheriff's office, Rachel, now 17, was last seen May 5, 2011 getting into a small dark color car with a possible South Carolina tag at her school in Boiling Springs.
Authorities say she had run away in the past and was found with Santos Pacheco-Sarmiento.
According to the original press release, Rachel had expressed interest in heading to Mexico and could be going by the name "Raquel."
The sheriff's office said investigators have been working with the FBI and with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to try and exhaust all resources to help bring this teen home.
Anyone with information regarding Rachel's whereabouts can contact Det. Holly Locklear at (910) 880-4950 or Lt. Donna Simpson at the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office (910) 880-4952. Citizens can also submit a tip anonymously online at www.brunswicksheriff.com.
The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office is offering a $500 reward for information leading to Rachel.
