Salt marsh safari

Have you ever wondered what lurks in the murky water, deep in the salt marsh of Wrightsville Beach? UNCW's MarineQuest program lets curious young campers explore the less-taken path. Elizabeth joins a group of 10 and 11 year olds on a journey to find sea critters.

She has trouble at first getting her "fishing net" to work quite right. However, the kids have no problems catching everything from sun sponge to sea squirts. They even net a few fish.

The biggest fishes they catch are spot fish.

Finally, Elizabeth makes her largest catch of the day, a blue crab, which are commonly found in the marsh.
