Shrimp heading and peeling

For 34 years, the people of Sneads Ferry have taken pride in their annual shrimp festival. This year, the committee invites Elizabeth to be in the shrimp heading and peeling contest.

In a practice run, she learns the tricks of the trade from the folks at Everett Seafood.

Steve Everett can take the heads off about 100 pounds of shrimp in just a half hour. It takes Elizabeth a little longer to get the hang of the two-handed techniques.

She may not be swift enough to win the contest on August 14th, but in a matter of moments, a pile of shrimp is peeled and ready for cooking.
