BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Soon, Brunswick County citizens will be able to submit Pistol Permit applications online.
"It will make things easier," said Emily Flax, the Public Relations Officer for the Brunswick Sheriff's Department. "The sheriff is always looking for a way to make things easier for our citizens and this will do that."
Right now, permits have to be picked up and turned in at the sheriff's office. Representatives say the department wanted to keep up with new technology and help out the increasing number of people purchasing Pistol Permits. In 2012, 1,313 permits were submitted and already in 2013, 829 permits have been submitted.
She says they are hoping to unveil the new application process next week. A link will be available on the sheriff office's website, http://brunswicksheriff.com/, allowing people to submit their application online.
Even though people will be able to submit Pistol Permits online, they will still have to appear in person to submit Conceal and Carry Permits.
Flax says if people want, they can still be able to submit Pistol Permits in person.
