NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Miracle League of Wilmington is one step closer to their dream field.

The group received a check from the Legends of Tennis, Inc., at the Country Club of Landfall on Tuesday.

Legends of Tennis handed over $15,000.

Organizers also announced one of this year's participants in the Legends of Tennis event.

Tennis pro Lindsay Davenport will be making the trip to Wilmington in September for the event.

All proceeds raised at Legends of Tennis will go to the Miracle League and UNCW's tennis program.

Organizers said donations have made their dream field become a reality.

"The field itself is an unbelievable resource for people who have any mobility difficulty or who are in wheelchairs," said Dan Johnson with Access of Wilmington.

Legends of Tennis, Inc. was formed three year ago.

The goal was to carry on the previous Legends event run by the County Club which ended in 2002.

The current group focuses on making charitable donations, like the Miracle League of Wilmington.

The Miracle League has been trying to build the field for five years now.

They hope to finish it by June.
