NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – District Attorney Ben David spoke to local lawmakers and a room full of elected leaders Monday morning.
He told the crowd that safety should remain a top priority, especially during any debate about a regional crime lab in New Hanover County. David said state lawmakers are cooperating with his office on this issue, but it needs to be a priority.
"The funding is where we prioritize our best intentions," he said.
Court cases are delayed for months, even years, waiting on results from crime labs, according to David. The crime lab located in the Wilmington Police Department is currently in high demand from surrounding law enforcement agencies.
