WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Cape Fear Public Utility Authority responded to and stopped a sanitary sewer overflow on Saturday near 1002 Cypress Drive in Wilmington.
The overflowing manhole was discovered at 2:05 p.m. and stopped at 3:20 p.m.
Approximately 1,000 gallons of diluted wastewater reached the ground and entered the storm drains flowing into Greenfield Lake.
CFPUA is not required to do a water quality sampling because of the rain and the small size of the spill.
The incident is being investigated by CFPUA.
