WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – One man is behind bars facing DWI charges after a crash that left a motorcycle driver dead.
According to a Wilmington Police Department spokesperson, around 7:50 Sunday night Paul Crutchfield was traveling at a high rate of speed on his Harley Davidson motorcycle and collided with a GMC truck on the 3500 block of Carolina Beach Road.
Crutchfield died at the scene.
The driver of that GMC truck, Augusto Valera is being charged with DWI and driving while having a revoked license.
The police department's traffic unit will reconstruct the crash to determine if there are any other factors that led to the crash by either driver.
