TABOR CITY, NC (WECT) - Officers with the Tabor City Police Department have arrested two people in connection to a stolen vehicle case that was called in Saturday night.

Police say they received a call around 10:00 p.m. about a vehicle stolen from former state senator R.C. Soles' home.  Officers driving on Canal Street spotted a car matching the description provided.

An officer said he tried to pull the car over, but the driver sped away. The officer chased the car onto to Stake Road, where it crashed into a ditch.

When the officer reached the vehicle two people were in the backseat. They said they were not injured.

Krystal Burgess and Christopher Lee Byrd were arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and fleeing to elude arrest.

Officers believe the car was stolen from a woman who was at the security gate in front of Soles' house.

Officials said they expect to make more arrests in this case.
