DSS employees work Saturdays to help with Food Stamp backlogNEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC - (WECT) - Even though it was a Saturday, the employee parking lot of the New Hanover County DSS was full of cars.
The New Hanover County Department of Social Services is dealing with a backlog because of its new electronic system called NC Fast.
Some people have been waiting weeks for food stamps.
About 40 employees will be working Saturdays this month and next just to enter data into the NC Fast system.
