WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Soggy - An expansive storm system moves in today bringing with it progressively better and wetter rain chances peaking tonight. High temperatures will struggle into the mid 50s with easterly winds and cloudy conditions. The first showers have already started across the northern edge of the area. These showers will be moving into the Wilmington area during the middle of the day with increasing shower opportunities as we head into the evening.
The heaviest rainfall amounts will likely come during the overnight hours lasting into Saturday morning. This isn't to say that every location is going to see heavy rain overnight; rather, the trend for heavier rain will be overrunning the area. Some breaks are possible throughout the morning hours with even some peeks of sunlight by the late morning hours.
Another round of showers will move in late Saturday with some clearing expected Sunday but check this, another – very similar – system move into the region by late Monday evening into Tuesday.
