
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A man was sentenced to 22 years in prison for having three or more violent felony convictions on his record, including a Family Dollar store robbery in Wilmington, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Sherwin Archie, age 59, pled guilty to possession of a firearm by a felon, robbery of a business and possessing and using a firearm during a crime of violence on June 5, 2012.
Archie went into a Family Dollar store on October 19, 2011 and demanded money from the clerk. He then put the gun to the stomach of the clerk and threatened her with the firearm, according to the news release.
Archie got away with approximately $187.
During a separate investigation, authorities obtained a search warrant on Archie's home. They found a .25 caliber handgun, ammunition and the sweatshirt that was worn during the robbery.
Archie was questioned about the robbery and admitted to stealing the money from Family Dollar.
