WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Clearer and cooler conditions are expected throughout the day today with high temperatures peaking in the mid 50s under mostly sunny skies. Light winds will help to keep things This will continue into the first half of Thursday before thicker clouds start to move into the forecast. Those clouds will keep things cooler in spite of warming southerly winds.
It's late Thursday into Friday, and perhaps a good chunk of the weekend, that the chances for showers will be gradually increasing. A vertically stacked low pressure center will move eastward bringing warmer conditions and showers across eastern North Carolina. Even a rumble of thunder or tow will be possible throughout the day on Saturday as the cold front advances on the region.
Calmer and dryer conditions are expected early next week.
