SHALLOTTE, NC (WECT) - Jimmy Fletcher has been tabbed as West Brunswick's athletic director.
"I'm excited about the opportunity." Fletcher said Monday night.
Fletcher replaces John Floyd who announced his retirement in January. Floyd's final day at West Brunswick is March 1.
According to a release by the school, Principal Brock Ahrens cited Fletcher's strong counseling background and connection to the community as reasons for the hire.
Fletcher's rise to AD comes 15 months after he was let go by the school after nine years as head coach. At the time Fletcher said he and Floyd had different ideas about the direction of the program. He was the reinstated in March and led the team to a 5-6 overall record in 2012.
