COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Monday night, Columbus County commissioners voted to pass a resolution that would ask state lawmakers to keep gun permits private. By keeping them private, people who live in the county would not know who else has a gun permit.
According to county officials, another county asked them to support the idea.
Columbus County Sheriff Chris Batten says, he believes it'll better protect citizens and could help with gun thefts.
