NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover County Airport Authority has plans to build a new service center for rental car companies located at ILM.
The estimated cost would be $4.5 million, and they are asking that the New Hanover County borrow the money with the airport paying the loan back over 10 years.
In 2003, the county fronted the money for improvements at the airport and again in 2008 for the construction of the airport's customs building.
The debt from 2003 has been completely repaid, and the debt from the 2008 project is on track to be paid off by 2020.
If approved, the airport would like to begin construction in May and be completed by December of this year.
