WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – This morning's showers will be interrupted as a pocket of drier air works its way into the area ahead of a cold front early this evening.
While our shower chances will be lessening for the remainder of the morning, cloudy skies will be consistent, and isolated thunderstorms will still pop up ahead of the front from time to time throughout this afternoon. Most of the weather forecast modeling is placing the front on the western edge of the area as the afternoon ends, moving past the coast as the sun goes down. Stronger westerly ad northwesterly winds will convey drier air into the region overnight helping to get temperatures back into the low 40s.
Conditions will be sunny and seasonable on Thursday with highs in the upper 50s. and low 60s. Warmer still with mostly sunny skies on Friday ahead of a dry cold front bringing temperatures down for the weekend.
