Machine technology businesses looking for employees

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Hundreds of jobs are up for grabs in our area for those who work well with their hands.

According to Randy Johnson with Cape Fear Community College, several local machine technology operating businesses are looking to hire people from our area.

Johnson says he has gotten multiple phone calls from companies such as General Electric, Rolls-Royce, and many other companies who are looking to hire students from the CFCC Applied Services division.

Johnson expects hundreds of new employees will be hired across southeastern North Carolina over the next five years.

In fact, Cape Fear Community College is looking to expand its applied technologies services in order to meet the demands of all the new employers.

Johnson says it's a great time to be a machinist and he hopes that his students will have an easy opportunity to get their foot in the door with a new job as soon as they graduate.
