NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Environmental Protection Agency will not be slapping New Hanover County with a non-attainment status for sulfur dioxide.
A recent letter from the EPA's regional administrator let local leaders know that recorded levels of SO2 in New Hanover County do not exceed the maximum amount allowed.
In fact, all monitored levels throughout the state are below the max limit, according to a message from the NC DENR's Division of Air Quality to local leaders.
Sulfur dioxide is monitored as a consideration of air quality in a specific area.
