Fair Bluff police chief: criminal activity will not be tolerated

FAIR BLUFF, NC (WECT) – The Fair Bluff Police Chief said there has been an elevated volume of calls to his department over the past several weeks.

According to Chief J. H. Hewett, outside agencies have been called in on multiple occasions to help with large crowds, shots fired and large fights.

Hewett said this type of activity will not be tolerated in town and the Fair Bluff Police Department is committed to see that violators are brought to justice.

According to police, multiple reports of breaking and entering, larceny and property damage have been closed with several arrests. Hewett said a stolen motorcycle from South Carolina and a go-cart from Fair Bluff are two items that were recovered with the assistance of citizens.

The police department have recently arrested and charged:

Esau Stephens

• four counts of breaking and entering
• two counts of larceny after breaking and entering
• three counts of property damage
• possession of burglary tools

Daijha McRoy

• assault
• communicating threats
• assault on a school employee
• three counts of conspiracy to commit felony larceny

James Earl Hemingway

• six counts of cruelty to animals
• assault and battery
• two counts of communicating threats
• assault on a handicapped person
• attempted larceny of a motor vehicle
• two counts of possession of stolen goods

Xavier Hemingway is wanted for:

• six counts of cruelty to animals
• assault and battery
• communicating threats
• assault on a handicapped person
• attempted larceny of a motor vehicle
• two counts of possession of stolen goods
