WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Showers and an occasional rumble of thunder will dominate the Monday forecast as a trough of low pressure passes the area. Rain totals will likely remain under a half an inch (0.5") as light showers along his boundary move off shore. The high temperatures should run in the upper 60's
By late tonight the rain will be shutting off, with clearing skies we will see some clouds and perhaps a brief shower around the southern edge of the area (Brunswick, New Hanover). Tuesdays high temperature will be a bit cooler as the weak cold front moves off shore – highs will move into the low to mid 60s.
Wednesday our rain chances shoot up again as a low pressure center emerges from the Gulf of Mexico and rides along the trough positioned off of or coastline. Rain chances will be nearly certain with one to three inches possible through late Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday drier and cooler weather is expected with highs in the mid to upper 50s.
