Lady Titans getting more from Towns

The Albany Tech girls basketball team got a game above .500 after beating Middle Georgia at the HPER Gym on Saturday. The victory made it back to back wins for Albany Tech who's still trying to find its own consistency late in the season.

The young lady that's stepped up to help them do that is the freshman out of Hiram High School Ashley Towns. Towns had 18 points against Middle Georgia on Saturday and was the spark that ended separating the Lady Titans in the win.

Towns is second on the team in scoring at around 10 points per game. She's in the top 5 in the conference in three pointers made per game. LaShay Lettingham leads the team in scoring but Towns has shown herself as a viable second option throughout the season and hopefully when the conference tournament begins.

Head coach Kenneth Williams said "I cant say enough about the way she's been shooting the ball lately. The last two games she's really shot the ball well. We really missed her a lot she went out about 4 or 5 games and she really had to get back into the flow of everything."

"I've been working on my shot. I try to not to shoot so much so if I miss we wont have to keep running back and forth but I've been working on it a lot so. I used to be very timid in the beginning but now that everybody is encouraging me to do better, I've came a long way." Said Towns.

The Lady Titans take on 1st place Darton at Cavalier Arena on Wednesday.
