Wilmington Children's Museum rings in Chinese New YearWILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - To celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year, kids in Wilmington went to the Children's Museum.
This year is the Year of the Snake, kids made paper lanterns, practiced using chop sticks and even got a special performance by the Wilmington Chinese School. Organizers say it was a great way for the kids to experience other cultures.
"It looks like the kids are having lots of fun, we've seen lots of kids smiling, making dragon puppets and paper lanterns and it looked like kids were having a lot of fun eating our Chinese noodles," said Mary Ellen Laughnun, who works at the Children's Museum.
The New Year Celebration is considered the most important of traditional Chinese holidays.
