BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A woman in Bladen County was arrested and charged Friday morning after admitting to fatally shooting her husband.
According Captain Rodney Hester with the Bladen County Sheriff's Office, Becky Nance, 53, called 911 around 6:30 a.m. to request law enforcement to a residence off NC 410 Hwy in Bladenboro.
Hester said when deputies arrived they found Becky's husband, Dewey Franklin Nance, 55, had been shot and killed.
According to Hester, Becky admitted to shooting her husband. She was charged with first degree murder.
Investigators tell us, they found Dewey's body in a bedroom, at the couple's home. They say as of right now they don't have a motive for the shooting.
Friends tell us, Dewey Nance owned Nance Auto Sales for more than 20 years. Ken Cain says he knew Dewey for about 30 years, he says Dewey was honest, had a lot of integrity and loved his family.
"He was a compasionate person a gentle person a loving person, he loved his family," said Cain. "I can't ever imagine having a more reliable friend."
Cain says he was shocked when he heard about the shooting.
"They were close, they were close," said Cain. "I never saw any indication that she was tired of him or he was tired of her."
He says they seemed like they had a good marriage.
"They were just wonderful good people, both of them, and the Becky that killed Dewey was not the Becky that I know," said Cain. He says she was usually upbeat.
"She was always bubbly, colorful, expressive, and cheerful," said Cain. However, he says she acted differently last week.
"She looked totally different not herself she just had a desperate bland look on her face and when I saw her she walked right on by, didn't speak to me," said Cain.
While he says the shooting is hard to understand, the loss of his friend is even harder.
Deputies say, they never received any domestic calls from the couple's home. The only thing on Becky's record is a simple assault charge from 20-04.

Friends say this is where the victim lived.
Friends of Dewey said he had owned Nance's Auto Sales in Bladenboro for more than 20 years.
