WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - If you have a lot of cool clutter in your house but no outlet for it all you might be in luck this week. A rare road show is in Wilmington for the first time, calling for your unique items and offering a potential pay day.
It's called the Estate Road Show and it has a large following around the country, but this is the show's first visit to Wilmington.
Each person with the show is educated in the American School of Jewelry and they are on the road every week looking at unique and rare items, so they say they can usually tell in a matter of minutes if what you have is rare or not.
Michael and Mandi Matley are a married traveling team who say even if you think you might have nothing worth selling, still bring it to the show for a try-- you might get a payday you don't expect.
"I had a woman come in once who had a box of junk jewelry for plays and that kind of thing. I ended up finding an 18- cart gold Tiffany's pocket watch. She left with $4,000 that day," said Mandi.
They say what differentiates the show from other sources is that they will take items you can't usually sell anywhere else like old metal toys from the 50s and 60s, sports and Hollywood memorabilia and so on.
If you want to try and add some bulk to your wallet the estate road show is happening Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Hampton Inn behind the Port City Chophouse. The event is free of charge.
